When Teri and I first started talking about starting this group it was with the idea that there should be a place where it didn't matter what your faith, teaching style, curriculum choices were, just that you homeschooled. We always felt that the home schooling community was split up into factions based upon these criteria and really we didn't fit neatly into any one of these boxes.

Aren't we basically all the same? We are all families exercising our right to teach our children according to our own beliefs. We should all be sticking together to protect that right.

Does it really matter what those beliefs are? I don't believe so (get it:D?)! If you believe you have the right to your own beliefs then you have to concede that same right to everyone else.

Why can't we all just get along? We are all homeschoolers who have strong ideals, and are highly motivated to take responsibility for our own children's education and future. We do not rely on anyone to do it for us but that doesn't mean we are alone.

So this group was founded on the principle of tolerance and respect for others choices regarding faith and the desire to teach secular siences, history etc. We wish everyone to feel welcome here, whatever your personal convictions.

Now you could just delve right in and start exploring but we advise you to read the rules first because the "I didn't know that wasn't allowed" excuse is not tolerated from our children and it isn't tolerated here. Can you tell we are around our children a lot lol? So rules are posted, if you are here and posting we will take it that you have read them.

We are glad you are here, we are glad you found us. So come on in the waters great, paddle at the edge or throw yourself in, you have found a bunch of new friends!

"There's room for everyone in this world, if everyone makes some room". There is a lot of wisdom in that song from Pete's Dragon, we are boiling it down to five rules:

    1. Play nice with the other kids! No 'virtual' biting, kicking, scratching or fighting!
    2. Agree to disagree, it's ok! We don't have to have the same beliefs to be friends, but there is room here for everyone.
    3. Soapboxes are for soap! Please don't use this forum to berate any faith or non-faith, it will not be tolerated.
    4. Stay on target, stay on target! Don't trust the force and just post anywhere, try to stay on topic or your post will be transported to another thread.
    5. To thine own self be true! Me, myself and I are very happy together and most of the time we all get along but we have to share one user name on this forum. Don't make us name and shame you for multiple accounts.

;) Tattling is OK! I know this is not the done thing normally, but if you see something you think is a rule-breaker please message Teri or myself (Sarah). We are only human and we need help (in so many ways, but that's another story) so it is entirely possible that we miss something.
Don't let anyone spoil the fun.We moderators are busy home schooling our own children and sorting out all the everyday disagreements that go along with that, by the time we get here the patience well has long since dried up, so it's straight to time-out for any rule breakers!

    :)
